What is a VOC Moon?

Here’s a little-known astrological phase worth knowing about.  It’s called the Void of Course Moon.   In astrological terms, it is when Moon fails to make an exact Ptolemaic aspect - Conjunction (0°), Sextile (60°), Square (90°), Trine (120°), or Opposition (180°) - with another planet until she moves into the next zodiac sign.

The Moon has finished her work in a particular zodiac sign. She has been so busy creating a detailed life full of emotion and events she needs to rest in “Void of Course” (VOC); before moving on. There will be a few hours break between every 2.5-day zodiac transit, from, say, Moon in Aquarius to Moon in Pisces, it’s beneficial for you to know if you are starting something new, working in sales, or you have been juggling suitors on dating apps.

Know the hours to avoid; the VOC translates as:  “NOTHING WILL COME OF IT” ventures are generally unsuccessful or beyond recollection. Try to avoid first dates or attending a job interview during VOC. Let’s add: press announcements, public speaking engagements, filing a court document, sending invitations, or even follow-up emails.   They may well be out of sight, forgotten or buried.

Think about the past week; your feelings fluctuated; you felt this way or that depending on the circumstance. Some things affected you more than others. The Moon’s journey and the aspects she makes show us how you felt, whether you were hot-headed, devastated, cold and uncaring or matter of fact about a situation. Horary astrologers regularly use the VOC Moon to foresee any obstacles and give you the most advantageous timing.

If you have invested substantial time or effort into something that falls during a VOC, such as plane, ship or train travel or getting married, you need not worry.  Apply the Rule of Density. These are things that take much longer than a moon cycle to substantiate. Car travel may have problems, that said.
